Every building needs inspections. Each clock below spins until you reach that stage - then it stops. Watch your project tick toward completion.
Scroll down to advance through each inspection stage. Each clock stops when you arrive.
Before concrete is poured, inspector checks the excavation, forms, and reinforcement. They verify the foundation matches your approved plans.
After foundation cures, the slab gets inspected. Plumbing rough-in is checked. Reinforcement placement is verified before the floor is poured.
The big one in HVHZ. Inspector checks every hurricane strap, every anchor bolt, every connection. This is where buildings fail or survive hurricanes.
Before shingles go on, they check the plywood nailing pattern. In HVHZ, there's a specific nail spacing - usually 6 inches along edges. Every nail matters.
After shingles/tiles are installed, inspector verifies the product matches the NOA, installation follows manufacturer specs, and all flashing is properly done.
The finish line! Everything gets one last look - electrical, plumbing, HVAC, all windows and doors. Pass this and you get your Certificate of Occupancy.

Tips from contractors who've been through it
Keep approved plans on site. Inspectors compare what they see to what was approved. No plans = automatic fail.
Inspectors need to see everything. Clear debris, remove obstructions. If they can't see it, they can't pass it.
If you're unsure about anything, ask the inspector before they arrive. They'd rather explain than fail you.
